Latakia Port Opens Single-Window Facility to Streamline Customs Procedures
Shipping Arabia, July 13, 2026 – Syria’s General Authority for Borders and Customs has opened a new single-window facility at Latakia Port as part of efforts to modernize customs operations, simplify procedures and improve services for port users.
The facility was inaugurated by Qutaiba Badawi, chairman of the General Authority for Borders and Customs, and Latakia Gov. Ahmad Mustafa, accompanied by an official delegation.
The new facility brings customs services and other relevant authorities together at a single location, allowing port users to complete procedures through a unified service point.
The integrated model is designed to reduce processing times, limit administrative bureaucracy and standardize procedures among government entities operating at the port. It is also expected to strengthen institutional coordination and improve operational efficiency.
The opening marks a further step in the modernization of Syria’s ports and border facilities, with a focus on providing faster, more efficient and transparent services to traders, investors and other port users.
The single-window system is expected to improve the trade and investment environment, strengthen confidence among port users and support the competitiveness of Syrian ports as regional logistics gateways.
The General Authority for Borders and Customs is implementing a broader development program to modernize infrastructure and upgrade administrative and customs systems across Syria’s ports and border crossings.
The program is being implemented in line with international practices, with the authority targeting the completion of its planned development objectives by the end of 2026.
