Aqaba Stakeholders Hold Coordination Meeting on Digital Integration and Operational Connectivity

Shipping Arabia, May 19, 2026 – Representatives from the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, the Land Transport Regulatory Commission, Maqta Ayla, Blue Ray Company, and Aqaba Company for Ports Operation and Management held a coordination meeting in Aqaba to discuss electronic integration and operational connectivity between systems related to truck movements, transport documentation, and operational permits.

Participants emphasized the importance of accelerating digital transformation initiatives and enhancing data integration among relevant stakeholders to simplify operational procedures, improve efficiency within Port of Aqaba, reduce waiting times and operational costs, and strengthen monitoring of truck movements and regulatory compliance.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to align loading permits, ASEZA approvals, and electronic links between land transport documents and operational systems used by Maqta Ayla. The parties also agreed to adopt customs declarations as the primary reference source for cargo, shipment, and operational quota data.

Discussions also covered operational procedures related to issuing transport documents and electronic permits, as well as automated verification mechanisms to ensure consistency and accuracy of data across interconnected systems while preventing duplication or conflicting procedures.

As part of the digital transformation agenda, Maqta Ayla presented plans to install smart gates and camera systems in staging yards, alongside the development of a smart application for truck drivers that would allow electronic monitoring of dispatch queues without the need to visit offices physically.

The meeting concluded with agreement to immediately begin electronic integration and technical connectivity works between the participating systems, while preparing periodic progress reports and a unified technical framework governing data exchange and operational procedures among all stakeholders.
