CMA CGM Updates Asia Freight Rates to Mediterranean, North Africa and North Europe

Shipping Arabia, July 12, 2026 – CMA CGM has announced updated freight rates from Asia to the Mediterranean, North Africa and North Europe, with new pricing taking effect from mid-July across several major container trade corridors.

For shipments from Asian ports to the Mediterranean and North Africa, the updated rates will apply from July 15 through July 31 to all cargo types.

Rates from Asia to the West Mediterranean will be set at $5,800 per 20-foot container and $7,900 per 40-foot container, while shipments to the Adriatic will be priced at $6,000 per 20-foot container and $8,100 per 40-foot container.

Rates to the East Mediterranean will be $6,200 per 20-foot container and $8,500 per 40-foot container. Shipments to the Black Sea will be priced at $5,900 per 20-foot container and $8,000 per 40-foot container.

North Africa will carry the highest rates among the listed destinations, at $7,300 per 20-foot container and $10,400 per 40-foot container.

CMA CGM will also update rates from Asia to North Europe from July 15, based on the loading date. The rates will remain in effect until further notice, but no later than July 31, and will be set at $4,100 per 20-foot container and $7,000 per 40-foot container.

The North Europe rate scope covers shipments from all Asian ports, including Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh, to destinations across North Europe, including the United Kingdom and the full range of ports from Portugal to Finland and Estonia.

Separately, CMA CGM will introduce a Panama Canal surcharge of $320 per twenty-foot equivalent unit on shipments from the Far East routed through the canal to the U.S. East Coast and Gulf Coast.
