Saudi Ports Support Transport of More Than 180,000 Tons of Caustic Soda Between Jubail and Ras Al-Khair
Shipping Arabia, July 14, 2026 – The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has supported the transportation of more than 180,000 metric tons of caustic soda between King Fahd Industrial Port in Jubail and Ras Al-Khair Port, marking a significant operational achievement for Saudi Arabia’s industrial supply chains.
The cargo was transported aboard 12 vessels between March and June 2026 through cooperation involving Mawani, Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma’aden), SABIC and Sipchem.
According to Mawani, the operation contributed to maintaining supply chain continuity, enhancing operational efficiency and supporting the sustainability of industrial facilities. It also demonstrated the readiness and flexibility of Saudi ports in responding to operational requirements and facilitating the movement of essential industrial materials.
King Fahd Industrial Port in Jubail and Ras Al-Khair Port serve major industrial and mining activities in Saudi Arabia, providing critical maritime infrastructure for the movement of raw materials and industrial products. The successful transfer underscores the role of integrated port operations in connecting industrial production centers and supporting the Kingdom’s expanding manufacturing and mining sectors.
The achievement also supports the objectives of Saudi Arabia’s National Transport and Logistics Strategy to improve logistics efficiency, strengthen the integration of ports with industrial supply chains and consolidate the Kingdom’s position as a global logistics hub.
