Damietta Port Authority Highlights Integration With Maritime Community During Periodic Meeting

Shipping Arabia, May 18, 2026 – Damietta Port Authority reaffirmed the importance of continued coordination with shipping companies, agencies and all stakeholders operating within the port during its periodic meeting with representatives of the maritime community.

The meeting was chaired by Rear Admiral Dr. Ahmed Hamdy Abdel Aziz, Vice Chairman for Operations, on behalf of Rear Admiral Tarek Adly Abdallah, Chairman of Damietta Port Authority, and was attended by senior port officials and representatives of companies, shipping agencies and relevant entities.

At the opening of the meeting, Abdel Aziz conveyed the chairman’s appreciation to all companies, agencies and port stakeholders for their continued cooperation, noting that recent operational achievements at Damietta Port reflect the strength of joint work and coordination between the authority and the wider maritime community.

He highlighted the recent successful reception of the mega bulk carrier YANG FAN as a clear example of the port’s high operational readiness. The vessel arrived from Singapore carrying around 144,780 tons of Chinese-origin bulk slag, marking the largest bulk cargo shipment received at Damietta Port since its establishment.

The vessel, measuring 289 meters in length, 45 meters in beam and with a draft of 16 meters, was safely received and berthed through full coordination between the authority’s departments, marine pilots, service crews and mooring teams, who completed the operation with high efficiency and navigational safety.

The meeting also noted that discharge operations were carried out using advanced equipment operated by CISCO Trans Logistics, contributing to strong discharge rates and efficient cargo handling from the start of operations. The authority expressed appreciation to the company and its teams for their professionalism and effective coordination.

Participants reviewed port performance indicators and cargo throughput figures, which showed positive growth across several activities. The meeting also discussed development proposals aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and improving the quality of services provided at the port.

Representatives of shipping companies and agencies praised Damietta Port Authority’s commitment to direct communication and regular coordination with the maritime community, noting that the port’s rapid development reflects the success of cooperation between the authority and its operational partners.
