Bahrain and Germany Discuss Maritime and Logistics Cooperation
Shipping Arabia, July 13, 2026 – Bahrain and Germany have discussed opportunities to expand cooperation in maritime transport, port management and logistics, with a focus on smart and sustainable solutions.
Bader Hood Al Mahmood, undersecretary for ports and maritime navigation at Bahrain’s Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, met with German Ambassador to Bahrain Henning Georg Simon to review areas of mutual interest across the maritime sector.
The talks covered the exchange of expertise and international best practices in seaport management, as well as potential cooperation on digitalization, operational efficiency and sustainable port development.
Al Mahmood highlighted the strong bilateral relationship between Bahrain and Germany and the scope for closer cooperation in maritime transport and logistics.
Following the meeting, Simon and the accompanying delegation visited Khalifa Bin Salman Port to review its infrastructure, logistics capabilities and cargo-handling operations.
The delegation was briefed on the port’s container and general cargo activities, operational systems and development plans aimed at strengthening its role as a leading maritime and logistics hub in the region.
Simon praised the level of infrastructure and operational organization across Bahrain’s ports, noting the importance of advanced port facilities in supporting trade and regional connectivity.
The visit formed part of wider efforts to deepen maritime cooperation between Bahrain and Germany and promote the exchange of technical expertise in port operations and logistics.
