Hapag-Lloyd Announces Higher India and Pakistan Freight Rates to Europe
Shipping Arabia, July 13, 2026 – Hapag-Lloyd has announced a new round of freight rate increases on westbound container shipments from India and Pakistan to North Europe and the Mediterranean, with the revised levels taking effect Aug. 1.
The adjustments apply to dry containers moving from the Indian ports of Nhava Sheva and Mundra, as well as Karachi and Port Qasim in Pakistan.
From Nhava Sheva and Mundra, the carrier will raise base rates by $2,000 per container. The revised rates to North Europe will be $5,253 per 20-foot dry container and $4,556 per 40-foot dry container.
Rates from the two Indian ports to Mediterranean destinations will increase to $5,358 per 20-foot dry container and $4,696 per 40-foot dry container.
For cargo originating at Karachi and Port Qasim, Hapag-Lloyd will apply an increase of $1,500 per container.
The new base rates from Pakistan to North Europe will be $4,593 per 20-foot dry container and $4,236 per 40-foot dry container, while rates to the Mediterranean will rise to $4,548 and $4,396, respectively.
The revised pricing will apply to all affected sailings departing on or after Aug. 1.
The increases cover key trade lanes linking the Indian subcontinent with European and Mediterranean markets and represent the latest carrier adjustment to westbound freight pricing during the third quarter.
