Sky Ports and AASTMT Launch First Joint Training Program at East Port Said Terminal
Shipping Arabia, May 20, 2026 – Sky Ports, operator of the multipurpose terminal at East Port Said Port, has launched its first joint training program with the College of Engineering and Technology at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT).
The initiative targets students from the academy’s Abu Qir and Port Said branches in the mechanical engineering and construction engineering departments under a cooperation protocol designed to bridge academic learning with practical port operations.
Tarek Hussein, Chairman of Sky Ports, said the program reflects the company’s commitment to developing young talent capable of supporting Egypt’s growing maritime and logistics sectors. He noted that students will gain direct exposure to terminal operations, including safety, sustainability, engineering, maintenance, and asset management.
The two-day program includes technical presentations, operational site visits, and discussions with Sky Ports executives on port development and logistics integration. It also incorporates advanced simulator-based training provided by AASTMT to enhance practical learning and operational readiness.
Sky Ports said the initiative also creates employment opportunities for participants, with students encouraged to apply for positions within the company. The operator currently offers more than 100 job opportunities at its East Port Said terminal and plans to add over 250 new positions next year alongside the launch of its new dry bulk terminal in Ain Sokhna.
More than 50 students are participating in the program, which forms part of broader cooperation between Sky Ports and AASTMT in education, research, engineering consultancy, innovation, and workforce development.
Sky Ports operates the multipurpose terminal at East Port Said Port within the Suez Canal Economic Zone, handling dry bulk and general cargo as part of Egypt’s strategy to strengthen its position as a regional logistics and maritime hub.
