  • Samudera Launches India–Egypt Service Linking Nhava Sheva, Mundra and Sokhna

Shipping Arabia, October 8, 2026 – Samudera Shipping Line has launched a new India–Egypt service connecting Nhava Sheva and Mundra with Sokhna in Egypt. The fortnightly service, operating under the code IRS, expands the carrier’s coverage between western India and the Egyptian market.

The new Samudera India–Egypt service follows a rotation of Nhava Sheva – Mundra – Sokhna – Nhava Sheva. Samudera expects the transit time between Nhava Sheva and Sokhna to be approximately 15 days.

Samudera India–Egypt service calls at three container terminals

At Nhava Sheva, the IRS service calls at Bharat Mumbai Container Terminals (BMCT). It then calls at Mundra International Container Terminal (MICT) before proceeding to DP World’s terminal at Sokhna in Egypt.

The port rotation gives Samudera a connection between two major western Indian gateways and Sokhna. According to the company, the new service strengthens its network between western India and Egypt while also extending its service coverage through Nhava Sheva.

The service operates every two weeks, providing a regular link across its three-port rotation.

First voyage scheduled from Nhava Sheva

The first voyage of the new service was scheduled to be operated by the vessel Lan Hai Zhi Yuan under voyage 011W. The vessel was expected to arrive at Nhava Sheva on October 1, 2026, marking the opening voyage of the new connection.

With the introduction of the IRS service, Samudera has added a dedicated rotation covering Nhava Sheva, Mundra and Sokhna, with an estimated 15-day transit from Nhava Sheva to the Egyptian port.
