  • GT LINES KCX1 Service Upgraded With Five Vessels and 10-Day China–Khorfakkan Sailings

Shipping Arabia, November 6, 2026 – Gulftainer’s GT LINES has upgraded its KCX1 (Khorfakkan China Express) container shipping service, introducing a five-vessel consortium and a regular 10-day sailing frequency. The enhanced GT LINES KCX1 service aims to increase capacity, improve schedule reliability, and strengthen trade connectivity between China, the UAE, and other Gulf markets, including Iraq.

Effective November 2, 2026, the upgraded service operates through a four-partner consortium comprising GT LINES, Zhong Gu, Sea Legend, and Ningbo Ocean. It combines direct maritime connections between China and Khorfakkan with Gulftainer’s inland logistics infrastructure and regional feeder network.

GT LINES KCX1 Service Expands Capacity and Sailing Frequency

Under the revised consortium structure, GT LINES contributes two container vessels, while Zhong Gu, Sea Legend, and Ningbo Ocean each provide one vessel. The five-vessel deployment supports a consistent 10-day sailing frequency between China and Khorfakkan.

The service follows a port rotation covering Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Nansha, and Khorfakkan. This arrangement provides direct connections from four major Chinese ports to the UAE.

According to the carrier, the upgraded service offers competitive transit times, including 18 days from Nansha to Khorfakkan and 24 days from Shanghai. GT LINES also highlights transit times of approximately 22–24 days from Central China and 18 days from South China.

The enhanced operation includes dedicated berthing priorities and improved cargo planning arrangements. GT LINES expects these measures to support more reliable sailing schedules and strengthen service capacity along the China–Gulf trade corridor.

The customer advisory outlines the following initial port calls:

    • Qingdao: November 2, 2026
    • Shanghai: November 7, 2026
    • Nansha: November 13, 2026
    • Khorfakkan: November 29, 2026

The carrier said the revised service structure is designed to preserve schedule reliability at Shanghai, Ningbo, and Khorfakkan while providing customers with more dependable sailing windows.

Khorfakkan and Sharjah Dry Port Support Integrated Logistics

Beyond its direct China–Khorfakkan connection, the upgraded KCX1 service integrates with Gulftainer Group’s inland logistics infrastructure to facilitate cargo distribution across the UAE.

Cargo arriving at Khorfakkan can move onward to Sharjah Dry Port in Saja’a through the group’s logistics network. Customers using the facility benefit from 12 days of free storage time.

The integrated operation also incorporates optimized trucking arrangements across the UAE, supporting cargo movements between the port, inland facilities, and regional distribution networks.

Momentum Logistics, Gulftainer’s in-house trucking operation, plays a role in transferring containers destined for Upper Gulf markets from Khorfakkan to Sharjah. This arrangement enables cargo to connect with the group’s regional feeder services.

By combining maritime transport with inland logistics and storage facilities, GT LINES aims to provide integrated cargo solutions for customers moving goods between China and Gulf destinations.

GULF CONNECT Extends Reach to Iraq and GCC Markets

A key component of the upgraded service is its integration with GULF CONNECT, the GT LINES intra-Gulf feeder network.

The network provides onward connectivity from the UAE to several regional markets, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Iraq.

For cargo destined for Upper Gulf markets, GT LINES uses its trucking operations to transfer containers from Khorfakkan to Sharjah. Shipments can then connect with GULF CONNECT feeder services for onward movement to regional destinations.

Iraq represents a particular focus within this arrangement. The carrier highlights its connectivity to Umm Qasr through the Iraq Container Terminal (ICT), a Gulftainer Group facility.

According to GT LINES, the combination of regional feeder operations and its terminal infrastructure at Umm Qasr is intended to provide a dedicated and reliable service to the Iraqi market.

This integrated network allows customers using the KCX1 service to access destinations beyond Khorfakkan through a combination of ocean shipping, inland transportation, and regional feeder connections.

    Strengthening China–Gulf Container Shipping Connections

The KCX1 upgrade represents a further development of GT LINES’ regional shipping network and its container services linking China with the Middle East Gulf.

The revised five-vessel consortium increases the resources deployed on the service, while the 10-day sailing frequency provides a more consistent schedule for shippers.

GT LINES has identified capacity enhancement, transit time competitiveness, and schedule reliability as central objectives of the upgraded operation. The carrier also aims to improve cargo planning and provide more integrated logistics services through Gulftainer Group’s infrastructure.

With direct calls at Khorfakkan and onward connections through Sharjah and GULF CONNECT, the enhanced KCX1 service combines China–UAE container shipping with access to markets across the GCC and Iraq.
