Latakia Port Conducts Floating Beacon Maintenance to Enhance Navigational Safety

Shipping Arabia, May 19, 2026 – The General Directorate of Ports carried out maintenance works on a floating navigational beacon within the maritime channels of Port of Latakia as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen navigational safety and improve vessel traffic management inside the port.

The floating beacon plays a key role in supporting marine navigation by helping vessels identify safe sailing routes and maneuvering channels, contributing to safer and more efficient vessel arrivals, berthing operations, and departures, particularly during adverse weather conditions, nighttime navigation, and emergency situations.

The maintenance works form part of broader initiatives led by Syria’s General Authority for Borders and Customs to enhance maritime safety systems, improve operational readiness, and support the smooth movement of vessels entering and leaving the port.

The authority continues to implement infrastructure and operational upgrades aimed at improving port efficiency and maintaining safe navigation standards across Syrian ports.
