MSC Updates Freight Rates from Asia and Indian Subcontinent to Europe and Mediterranean
Shipping Arabia, July 14, 2026 – MSC has announced new FAK rates across major westbound container trades from the Far East and Indian subcontinent to Europe, the Mediterranean, North Africa and the Black Sea.
The revised rates will apply from July 15 until further notice, but no later than July 31, and cover cargo originating from all Far East ports, including Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asia.
From the Far East to North Europe, rates are set at $5,005 per 20-foot dry container and $7,700 per 40-foot dry or high-cube container.
Rates to the West Mediterranean and Adriatic will be $5,100 per 20-foot container and $7,700 per 40-foot container, while East Mediterranean rates are set at $5,100 and $7,600, respectively.
For Black Sea destinations, MSC will apply rates of $5,200 per 20-foot container and $7,800 per 40-foot container.
Higher levels will apply to North Africa. Rates are set at $6,800 per 20-foot container and $10,100 per 40-foot container to Algeria; $6,500 and $9,400 to Libya; $5,800 and $8,700 to Casablanca, Morocco; and $6,600 and $9,700 to Tunisia.
The Far East rates include ocean freight, the Global Fuel Surcharge and Emissions Control Area charges. Carbon-related surcharges will apply separately, while IMO-classified cargo and high-value commodities are excluded.
MSC also introduced new FAK rates from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, India and Pakistan to Europe for the same validity period.
Rates from Colombo to Antwerp and Valencia are set at $2,550 per 20-foot container and $2,850 per 40-foot or high-cube container. From Chattogram, rates will be $2,550 and $3,350, respectively.
Rates from Nhava Sheva and Port Qasim to Antwerp are set at $4,150 per container, while shipments from Ennore and Kolkata will be priced at $4,350 and $4,450, respectively. Rates to Valencia will range from $4,250 to $4,550, depending on the port of loading.
The Indian subcontinent rates include base ocean freight and selected emergency, piracy-risk and emissions-control charges. Fuel, emissions trading, FuelEU, terminal handling, security and other origin- and destination-related charges will apply separately.
