Red Sea Ports Authority Reviews Development Work at Taba, Nuweiba and Sharm El-Sheikh
Shipping Arabia, July 15, 2026 – Egypt’s Red Sea Ports Authority has reviewed development projects and operating conditions at Taba, Nuweiba and Sharm El-Sheikh ports as part of efforts to improve service quality and raise operational efficiency across the country’s Red Sea gateways.
Maj. Gen. Mohamed Abdel Rahim, chairman of the authority, conducted an inspection tour covering the three ports to assess construction progress, berth readiness, passenger and vessel services, and the overall continuity of operations.
At Taba Port, Abdel Rahim reviewed ongoing construction and development work and called for strict adherence to project schedules and quality standards. He also directed port officials and contractors to address any obstacles that could delay implementation.
The visit continued at Nuweiba and Sharm El-Sheikh, where the authority chairman inspected berth facilities and reviewed procedures for serving vessels and passengers.
He stressed the need to continue improving operational performance, simplify procedures and reduce service times to support more efficient port activity.
The inspection was carried out under directives from Transport Minister Kamel El-Wazir to maintain close oversight of port development projects and ensure that infrastructure investment is matched by improvements in day-to-day operations.
Abdel Rahim said the authority is continuing to modernize its ports in line with international standards, strengthening their ability to support trade, tourism, maritime transport and logistics activity.
The development program forms part of Egypt’s wider strategy to improve the competitiveness of its port network and reinforce the role of Red Sea ports as regional maritime and logistics gateways.
