Saudi Ports Handle 14.3 Million Tonnes of Cargo in June as Trade Volumes Remain Strong
Shipping Arabia, July 17, 2026 – Saudi Arabia’s ports handled more than 14.3 million tonnes of cargo during June 2026, reflecting continued growth in maritime trade and reinforcing the Kingdom’s position as one of the region’s leading logistics and shipping hubs.
According to the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani), total cargo throughput across the Kingdom’s ports reached 14,344,915 tonnes during the month. Saudi ports also processed 500,812 TEUs of containers, including 126,917 TEUs of transshipment cargo, while accommodating 1,086 vessel calls.
The ports additionally welcomed 59,380 passengers, handled 58,256 vehicles, and processed 697,657 head of livestock, highlighting the diverse range of commercial and passenger activities supported by the Kingdom’s maritime infrastructure.
The latest figures underscore the strategic role of Saudi Arabia’s ports in facilitating regional and international trade across multiple cargo segments, from containerized freight and bulk cargo to passenger transport and livestock movements.
The June performance comes as Mawani continues to expand port capacity, modernize infrastructure and attract new shipping services under the National Transport and Logistics Strategy and Saudi Vision 2030. Ongoing investments across the Kingdom’s commercial ports are aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, increasing connectivity and strengthening Saudi Arabia’s competitiveness as a global logistics hub linking Asia, Europe and Africa.
