Jordan Maritime and Trade Bodies Discuss Transit Growth and Aqaba Logistics Challenges

Shipping Arabia, July 16, 2026 – Jordan’s maritime, trade and logistics organizations have held a coordination meeting to address operational challenges affecting cargo flows, transit trade and supply chain activity through the Port of Aqaba.

The meeting brought together Jordan Shipping Association Chairman Zaid Al-Khalaldeh, board member AbdulRahman Ali and Secretary-General Capt. Mohammad Al-Dalabieh with Amman Chamber of Commerce Chairman Khalil Haj Tawfiq, chamber Vice Chairman Nabil Al-Khatib and Jordan Logistics Association Chairman Nizar Saleh.

Representatives of the Amman Chamber of Commerce also attended the meeting, which focused on strengthening coordination among private-sector organizations involved in transport, shipping and logistics.

Discussions covered measures to expand transit cargo movements through Jordan and improve the flow of goods through Aqaba’s port facilities.

Participants also reviewed the effect of congestion at neighboring regional ports on vessel movements, shipping schedules, supply chains and logistics services at Aqaba.

The meeting examined opportunities to align efforts among the relevant organizations, improve the business environment and raise the efficiency of logistics services supporting Jordanian and regional trade.

Participants stressed the importance of maintaining regular dialogue and developing practical, coordinated responses to the challenges facing the sector.

They said stronger cooperation among maritime, trade and logistics stakeholders would support the national economy, improve the competitiveness of Jordan’s transport sector and reinforce the country’s position as a regional logistics hub.

The participants also highlighted the need to capitalize on changing regional trade patterns and emerging transit opportunities to strengthen Jordan’s role in cargo movement between neighboring markets.
